A Magical Wine Tasting in Tuscany: Maryam & Alexander’s Pre-Wedding Celebration
Last summer, I had the absolute honor of organizing and hosting a wine tasting for a truly wonderful couple, Maryam and Alexander. They had traveled all the way from California to celebrate their wedding in the heart of Tuscany, where they rented a stunning villa nestled among the rolling hills. They wanted to create a memorable experience for their guests with a wine tasting the evening before their big day, and I was thrilled to be a part of it.
From the moment they reached out to me, I could tell this was going to be special. Maryam and Alexander were so full of excitement and warmth. They wanted their guests to experience something truly authentic, a taste of Tuscany’s finest wines as part of the pre-wedding celebration. But little did I know, there was a twist in store for me!
A Wine Connoisseur in the Family
When I arrived at the villa to set up for the tasting, I was greeted by Maryam’s father, who, as it turned out, was an expert in wine. Not just any casual wine lover—this man knew his stuff! He had already bought dozens of incredible bottles to serve his guests throughout the wedding week. Bottles of top-notch wines lined the villa’s dining area!
I couldn’t help but smile to myself—this was going to be a challenge. How could I possibly impress a seasoned wine connoisseur like him, especially when he’d already laid out such an impressive spread for their guests? Luckily, I handpicked some of the boldest, extraordinary wines I had in my selection, determined to make this tasting an experience to remember.

The Perfect Evening
We had 32 guests, all buzzing with excitement as they gathered on the villa’s living room, surrounded by vineyards and golden Tuscan sunsets. My trusted collaborator, Matteo, who runs an agency specializing in beverage services for special events, joined me to help run the event. When I’m in Tuscany, Matteo is my greatest support. With his deep knowledge of Tuscan wines and his infectious sense of humor, I knew we were in for a good time.
The atmosphere was electric. We kicked off the evening with a crisp white wine, perfect for the summer heat, and then transitioned into the heavy hitters—the big, bold reds that Tuscany is famous for. As we moved through each wine, the energy of the group just kept growing. We laughed, swapped stories about the winemaking process, and shared plenty of anecdotes about Tuscan life.
One of the best moments of the night was when Maryam’s father approached me, a huge smile on his face, to express his approval of the wines I had chosen, and I felt a wave of relief and pride wash over me. It was a testament to the care I had put into selecting the perfect wines for their celebration.

Looking back, it was more than just a wine tasting. It was a celebration of love, of family, and of the beautiful connection that wine can create between people. Maryam and Alexander’s guests were thrilled, and Matteo and I felt incredibly lucky to be part of such a joyful occasion. The combination of a knowledgeable wine crowd, the stunning setting, and the pure joy of the couple made it an evening none of us would forget.
